Yu Hong es entrevistada por una oficial de inmigración. Escucha con atención el diálogo y repítelo luego simultáneamente.

Officer:

Where are you from originally, Yu Hong? 

¿De dónde eres, Yu Hong?

Yu Hong:

I'm from China, from near Shanghai.

Soy de China, cerca de Shanghai. 

Officer:

And when did you move here?

¿Y cuándo te mudaste aquí?

Yu Hong:

I came here after I graduated from college. That was in 1992.

Vine aquí después que me gradué en la universidad. Eso fue en 1992.

Officer:

And what do you do now?

¿Y qué haces ahora?

Yu Hong:

I'm a transportation engineer. 

Soy ingeniera en transportes.

Officer:

I see. So you're immigrant to the United States.

Yu Hong:

Yes, that's right.

Officer:

What are some of the difficulties of being an immigrant in the U.S.?

¿Cuáles son algunas de las dificultades de ser un inmigrante en los E.E.U.U.?

Yu Hong:

Oh, that's not an easy question to answer. There are so many things, really. 
I guess one of the biggest difficulties is that I don't have any relatives here. I mean, 
I have a lot of friends, but that's not the same thing. 
In China, on holidays or the weekend, we visit relatives. 
It isn't the same here. 

Ah, no es una pregunta fácil de responder. Realmente hay tantas cosas. Creo que una de las mayores dificultades es que no tengo parientes aquí. Quiero decir, tengo muchos amigos, pero no es la misma cosa. En China, en vacaciones o en el fin de semana, visitamos a los parientes. No ocurre lo mismo aquí.

immigrant to (into): ingresar como inmigrante a otro país.
I guess = I suppose: entiendo, supongo. 
relatives (brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, cousins, etc): parientes.
I mean = That is to say: Es decir.
