Grandpa:

grocery store right here 
on this corner. Hmm.

then.

Milly:

These days the population is growing fast.

Grandpa:

down all these old
buildings soon. In a

just malls and high-rise apartments.

galerías y edificios de
departamentos.

Milly:

Hey, that doesn't sound too bad!!

Grandpa:

pretty quiet = very quiet (muy silencioso, tranquilo)
not many =/= not few (no muchos =/= no pocos) 
grow / grew / grown / growing (crecer, desarrollarse)
fast = quick =/= slow (rápido =/= lento)
tear down / tore down / torn down / tearing down = pull down, demolish (demoler)
mall = shopping center, plaza (centro de compras)
high-rise = tower block (edificio en torre)
custom = tradition (costumbre, tradición)
the old days = the past (el pasado, los viejos tiempos)

¡¡ Pobre abuelo !! Yo sentiría lo mismo.
