   Because the car was destroyed by fire.
   Because the silver was lost and the car damaged.

 How were both the car and the silver lost?

   When the thieves crashed on the road, the silver was
        destroyed.
   When the thieves crashed into a bridge, the car turned over
        and the silver fell into the river.

 Where are the two thieves now?

   Both thieves have been caught, so they are probably at the
        police-station.
   Both thieves are in a prison near the river now.
