The Matrix

In the near future, computer hacker Neo (Keanu Reeves)  discovers that all life on Earth may be nothing more than an elaborate facade created
by a malevolent cyber-intelligence,
while our life essence is tried to be dominated by the Matrix. In his struggle to destroy it, Neo joins Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne)
and Trinity (Carrie Ann Moss) .

Did you know that the first Matrix was designed to be a perfect human world, where none suffered; where everyone would be happy. It was a disaster. No one would accept the program. Entire crops were lost. Some believed that we lacked the programming language to describe your perfect world, but I believe that as a species, human beings define their reality through misery and suffering. So the perfect world we dreamed, but your primitive cerebrum kept trying to wake up from. Which is why The Matrix was redesigned to this ... the peak of your civilization.

none = not anyone (nadie); would accept the program: was interested in the program (aceptaba el programa); entire crops = full harvests (cosechas enteras); we lacked: we did not have (nos faltaba); suffering: physical pain and/or psychological affliction (sufrimiento); cerebrum: anterior portion of the brain consisting of two hemispheres (cerebro); peak: top point (punto culminante).

The Matrix is everywhere. It is all around us. Even now in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window. Or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work. When you go to Church. When you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.

it is all around us = it surrounds us all (nos rodea); very room = same room (mismísimo cuarto); turn on =/= turn off (encender =/= apagar); taxes: charges against a citizen (impuestos); pulled over: moved or hidden (desplazado); to blind you: to make you unable to see (para impedir que veas); truth =/= lie (verdad =/= mentira).

What are they?

MORPHEUS:

Sentient programs. They can move in and out of any software still hardwired to their system. That means that anyone we haven't unplugged is potentially an agent.

MORPHEUS:

I've seen an agent punch through a concrete wall. Men have emptied entire clips and hit nothing but air. Yet their strength and their speed are still based in a world that is build on rules, because of that, they will never be as strong or as fast as you can be.
