The structure of CAE :: Part 1/2

 

 

 

We will analyse here three CAE structures. The last two structures will be analysed in Unit 2 - Lesson 8.

CAE "READING" TEST

There are 34 questions in the CAE "Reading" Test. It makes up 20% of the entire exam. This test has four sections and takes 75 minutes:

Part 1:

Three themed texts with multiple-choice questions.

Part 2:

Text with 6 paragraphs missing.

Part 3:

Long text with multiple-choice questions.

Part 4:

Multiple matching.

OM PERSONAL ADVICE: To prepare for this test read widely and as much as possible. Use a dictionary to help you learn new words

CAE "USE OF ENGLISH" TEST

There are 50 questions in the CAE "Use of English". It makes up 20% of the entire exam. This test has five sections and takes 60 minutes:

Part 1:

Multiple-choice cloze.

Part 2:

Open cloze.

Part 3:

Word formation.

Part 4:

Gapped sentences.

Part 5:

Key word transformations.

CAE "LISTENING" TEST

There are 30 questions in the CAE "Listening" Test. It makes up 20% of the entire exam. This test has four sections and takes about 40 minutes:

Part 1:

Three short extracts from conversations with multiple-choice questions.

Part 2:

Sentence completion.

Part 3:

Conversation with multiple-choice questions.

Part 4:

Multiple matching.
